Terms and Conditions

EDC Courses at Bromley Central Library
High Street, Bromley BR1 1EX

Terms & Conditions

1. Course Bookings

A booking must be made for all courses, and delegates will not be allowed to join any course without completing a booking in advance.

Places are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited in number. In addition, access to some courses may be restricted due to various factors, including but not limited to:

  • specific grants that restrict entry per their Terms and Conditions
  • multi-agency courses that require delegates be from a variety of organisations
  • members of a particular network only

Bookings will close approximately two weeks prior to the start of the course. Subject to availability, you may be able to book a place after the closing date.

2. Course costs

The cost of each individual course can be found in the relevant course listing. Places are only confirmed on receipt of payment (if appropriate) on a first come first serve basis subject to availability.

3. Cancellation / non-attendance policy

Where a charge is not applicable, we would appreciate notice in writing as soon as possible if you cannot attend, so that we can offer your place to those on the waiting list.

Where a charge is applicable and once we have confirmed your place, you will be liable for payment of the full cost of the course whether you attend or not. (Please see section 4 below on cooling off period for details on cancellation written notice period). Another member of staff can attend as a replacement.

Every effort is made not to cancel or postpone courses but this may happen due to circumstances outside our control. If a course has to be cancelled, you will be contacted via e-mail, telephone or letter as appropriate and offered an alternative course subject to availability. If we are not able to offer an alternative course and a fee has been paid, you will receive a full refund.

If a course is cancelled at short notice all delegates will be emailed to this effect with a follow up telephone call subject to this information being available. In the event of adverse weather conditions forcing closure of the Library, this will also be posted on the website www.bromleyedconline.org.uk. You are advised to check the website for information prior to starting your journey.

4. Refunds policy

Cooling off period

If you book on a course and pay for it, you are entitled to fourteen working days during which you may cancel your course. You need to cancel your place on the website at www.bromleyedconline.org.uk in ‘My CPD Online’ or in writing either by email: edc.admin@bromley.gov.uk or fax: 0208 466 0587 or letter to Early Years Quality & Funding Service, Bromley Central Library, High Street, Bromley, BR1 1EX. If you do reconsider your booking during this time, you will receive a refund of the money paid for the course(s). If however, the course starts within the fourteen day cooling off period; your payment for the course indicates that you wish to undertake the course. Therefore, your right to cancel is lost if you choose to withdraw unless this is due to a course being proved to have been mis-sold by the Council or to service failure.

For cancellations after the fourteen day cooling off period

If you cancel your place after the fourteen day cooling off period, you will not be entitled to a refund unless this is due to service failure.

Requests for refunds relating to service failure

Should you request a refund based on a complaint about the quality of service provided, your complaint will be dealt with from the time that your complaint is received. Complaints about courses run by outside organisations will be forwarded to the appropriate organisation.

Please ensure that any complaints are made as soon as possible, in order that we can work together to ensure an appropriate way forward. Your complaint may be either in writing, by telephone or in person. The date of receipt of your claim will be the date from which your complaint is considered to have started. If we do not substantiate your claim, you will not be entitled to a refund. Should you wish to challenge the outcome of such a decision, the appeal process is detailed in the Customer Care Policy. For a copy of the Customer Care Policy please email edc.admin@bromley.gov.uk

Requests for refunds relating to medical problems and general absence

We are unable to make refunds for absence due to medical conditions, changes to work commitments or other reasons for not being able to attend the course as a part or a whole. We may be able to transfer your booking to another course subject to availability.

Contact details

Should you have any queries regarding the refunds policy, these should be addressed to the Head of Service by email to: edc.admin@bromley.gov.uk or by letter to: Head of Service, Early Years Quality & Funding Service, Bromley Central Library, High Street, Bromley, BR1 1EX.

Getting it right

We try to ensure the total accuracy of the information in all our publicity, but sometimes we get it wrong. Although we aim to deliver the programme of courses as advertised, changes might have to be made.
We reserve the right to cancel or re-schedule courses or to make changes to advertised course details including cost of course or trainer.

The Early Years Team reserves the right to refuse admission or to refer individuals to more appropriate courses.
